Gas oil has the same chemical makeup as normal white diesel used in vehicles but a red dye is added to differentiate the two
It is a fuel that is cheaper than normal road diesel due to it being a rebated fuel used for heating, vehicles, machinery in the construction and agricultural sector.
Gas oil should never be used in any vehicles on public roads as you may face hefty fines if caught doing so. Gas oil is also called red diesel, cherry, 35 seconds, heating oil just to name a few. There are two types of Diesel we trade in- High Sulphur Gas Oil and Low Sulphur Gas Oil.
High Sulphur Gas Oil: This oil contains almost 1000 parts sulphur per million (1000ppm). It is used in older tractors and stationary machine including generators, heating and grain dryer systems.
Low Sulphur Gas Oil: This oil contains 10 parts sulphur per million (10ppm). It is specified for use in most modern engines.
